mom brag moment!
Chelsea began taking single steps on her own a week or two ago. We were very excited about this milestone but tears almost came to my eyes about an hour ago. Chelsea was cruising around and in between the furniture (like usual) and then decided to turn out towards the living room and took 8 consecutive steps on her own!!!! I couldn't believe it! Ben is at volleyball right now so wasn't able to see it unfortunately :( We are both home tomorrow night so I'm hoping (if she decides she wants to attempt walking again) that we can catch it on video. I tried tonight but it's very difficult to entice her to walk more than one or two steps on her own and take the video at the same time.

YUM-O!
Chelsea LOVES finger foods. The problem with that statement is that she only has two bottom teeth! She can eat a lot of finger foods, but not the variety of foods (and nutrients) that I would like her to be able to eat. I was tired of giving her toast, peas, carrots, unhealthy baked goods, applesauce and shredded cheese for her to munch on for meals. She was never a fan of the store bought baby foods (except for the fruit) and I would find myself throwing out leftovers because she would not finish a jar within three days.
In doing some research I found out how EASY, INEXPENSIVE and NUTRITIOUS it is to make your own baby food!! I wish I would've started this months ago! I've been making her food for the past couple weeks and she is loving almost everything that is put in front of her. Even with buying all organic ingredients the cost is minimal. I feel so good knowing exactly what she is eating and that all the ingredients are fresh with no preservatives.

"Green Beans and Rice" that I made last week and froze
Freezer safe individual serving size dish for baby food!
The book that has changed my view on what to feed Chelsea
Boiling Sweet Potatoes!
Cooked Sweet Potatoes and Bananas - See how easy this is!
The end result of 1 sweet potato and 1/2 banana = 4 meals for Chelsea!
Chelsea LOVES pears and apples. So why not combine them?!
Time to freeze these portions and then transfer into ziplocks. I take what I plan to feed Chelsea the next day out of the freezer and put into the fridge the night before.
Making some mashed potatoes - a special treat for our little babe tonight :) I'm making Ben and I meatloaf for dinner and I'm assuming that Chelsea isn't exactly ready for that yet!
healthy?!
It's been way too long since I've posted a blog! I apologize. Our house has been hit hard with colds and the flu the past few weeks. We are also playing volleyball three nights a week and have been a little overwhelmed with trying to stay on top of this thing called life while sick and so busy. As of right now, I am healthy, the house is cleaned, I have dinner planned out for the next two nights, Chelsea is at daycare, laundry is done and the dogs don't need to be at their grooms until 1:30! Life is moving at a relaxed pace today and I'm loving it!
I'm starting to get a little frustrated by how sick I've been getting as of late. I feel like I'm sick more often than not. Honestly, I can count the days on one hand in the past month that I have felt 100%! I'm taking such good care of myself (rarely drink & smoke, eat obscenely healthy, work out 4 days a week, play volleyball 2 days a week, have cut out 99% of my caffeine intake, take all my vitamins, am getting 9 hours of sleep a night and so on and so on) yet my health is trying to show me otherwise. BEFORE Chelsea joined us I wasn't so good to my body and NEVER got sick! Chelsea must be a major magnet for germs and she enjoys sharing those germs with mommy.
With that said, Ben and I had set up a playdate this past Saturday with the Peterson's and Hay's and their girls. I was so excited for all of us to get together and couldn't wait to see the girls play together. Well - with my luck I was hit HARD with the stomach flu at about 2-3pm on Saturday. I physically could not get out of bed, well, unless it was to pray to the porcelain god, all day and night. Ben still had them over and they had a great time socializing and playing with the girls. They were all downstairs and I was wishing I were part of it. He took a few pictures so I will post them below.
Here's to hoping you see another blog posted sooner than later and the germs and virus's stay far away from the Fisher household for more than a few days this time!

Trick Or Treating!
Here is my last Halloween blog! We took Chelsea to four of our neighbors' houses to say hi before the trick or treating rush started. It was so much fun being able to take her around and show her off. Everyone loved seeing her and even let her pick out her own candy - even though she can't eat any of it! We got home right as the older kids started showing up at the house and put chelsea in her walker to assist in handing out the candy. She had SUCH a good time! She even pushed through and stayed up until 8 (bedtime is usually between 7 and 7:30) because of all the excitement. I can NOT wait to celebrate ALL holidays with Chelsea and loved ones. Babies / Kids just make the holidays that much more special and enjoyable..........In my opinion that is! :-)
Our Little Model
This was my attempt at taking pictures of Chelsea before all the Halloween festivities. I'm not very good at the "staged" pictures yet, but I have fun doing it. Maybe someday I'll learn how to use our camera and adjust it off the "auto" setting! Until then, you'll have to bear with my very amateur photos. Enjoy :-)
