Father's Day Weekend at the cabin!

So, I'm writing a blog about our last cabin visit a few hours before we head back there for this weekend.  I'm slowly catching up!

We headed up to Uncle Steve's place on Lake Mina to spend Father's Day weekend.  Our home away from home!  We enjoyed beautiful weather, got in lots of fishing, took the kiddos tubing for the first time and were able to spend time with my family as well.

One of the best things about being at the cabin is that we get a lot of quality time together enjoying life's simple pleasures.  Don't get me wrong, it's not exactly relaxing with a 2 and 4 year old up there but at least I'm not worrying about cleaning my house and checking items off my to do list like I always am at home.  We get to focus on what's really important while we are away from home.  All four of us LOVE being at Lake Mina.

Getting up to the cabin is always pretty hectic for me with all the organizing, packing and lassoing in the kiddos.  Once we get there the kids immediately go wild (thank goodness Uncle Steve is there to entertain them!) and we have to unpack, get organized and Mina cared for.  I'm a person who rejuvenates best with a little "Me time."  Ben is always so darn good about taking the kids letting me sit on the deck to unwind for a half hour or so after we get settled.  Then I'm ready for fun!

This picture was taken during that first "me time" break when we got to the cabin.  I always take a picture as I'm soaking in the beauty and usually can't help but post it!

We fished a lot this weekend.  Chelsea is becoming a great little fisherwoman and can now set the hook and reel the fish in on her own!

A video of Chelsea catching a fish

Chelsea and tyler both love playing with leeches.  They fight over who gets to bring daddy a leech when he needs to bait a hook!  Chelsea's face looks like she doesn't enjoy it, but she was making a funny face because the sun was in her eyes.

Tyler's leech.  Tyler tries to be helpful and he will randomly grab a leech out of the container, sneak up on my while I'm fishing, put a leech in my face and say "here mama"!  It takes everything in my willpower not to freak out (don't want them get scared off of leeches) when he does that.  For some reason I can not get over my 'fear' of leeches.  I've baited one or two this year on my own but it's really, really hard for me.

Mina is getting pretty old and frail so we are making darn sure that she is having the best summer ever and including her in what we can.  She loves the boat!

Tyler driving the boat.  Daddy is in heaven!

I LOVE this video I took while we were boating!

Any time we get in the car while staying at the cabin Tyler immediately passes out!

More fishing!

Chelsea really enjoyed when I caught 'baby fish'

Ben and Steve took the kiddos out to breakfast one morning and let mama sleep in a bit!

Ben caught a couple good sized Bass.  The first one shook off right as he reeled it up to the boat :(

A decent size bass

Chelsea's baby fish!

Can you tell by this concentration that this is a nice size fish?! :)

Happy Father's day Ben!

Sleepy kiddos!

You know it's time to go in when they start wrestling each other

Love this picture!

I took this picture on Sunday night.  Beautiful

On our way home we saw this tiny little Fawn.  She sat next to the road for a little bit and graciously let us check her out!

Jillian's Birthday and Family!

Joel and Jillian (and fam) were in the city for Alyssa's hockey tourney a few weeks back.  The hockey tourney just happened to fall on Jillian's birthday so we all were able to celebrate with a really yummy dinner at Ichibons.  It was my first time eating there and it definitely won't be my last... SO GOOD!

We had a huge table upstairs and felt as if we had the entire place to ourselves for most of the meal.  All the kids did well and loved the food.  I was a tad big nervous about Tyler (eating out isn't his strongest suit) but he was so entertained by the chef and the constant stream of food that he behaved pretty well.

Everyone except for Ben (who took this picture)

Ari photo bombing!

Silly girls!

My precious baby boy

Alayna and Chelsea enjoyed the warm hand towels that we received at the beginning of the meal

Mom and Dad!

The girls are so goofy when they get together! I love it!

I gave Tyler a taste of my soup and he proceeded to take the entire bowl from me.  I let him because I was excited that he was trying something new!

Chelsea loved the soup as well!

The kiddos all hanging out on Nicollet Ave!  We were all feeling fat and happy :-)

Jillian took a bunch of pictures of the family on Father's Day at my parents place on Lake Carlos (Alexandria).  I debated posting these pictures since they were quickly taken on my phone and not the quality of Jillian's camera, but couldn't resist.  I'll post Jillian's camera pictures when I get them downloaded.  I'm so excited to see them!

All the cousins with Grandma and Grandpa.  Tyler giving grandma a run for her money!  He only wanted to be held by mommy this day.

Quick!  Take the picture before he starts screaming again! :)
