Humboldt Christmas Celebration

After opening Santa's gift to Chelsea we loaded up the car and began our 3 1/2 hour (well, without any stops) trek to Ben's Grandma Sandvig's house in Humboldt Iowa.  We flipped Chelsea's carseat forward facing, left right at her morning naptime and packed a bag full of goodies for her.  Needless to say, we were very nervous on how she would do on such a long roadtrip.  She slept for the first hour and the last half hour of the trip.  We stopped once at a rest stop to change her diaper and let her stretch her legs and stopped a second time to get gas and let her stretch her legs once again.  All in all she did very well in the car.  It took us just over 4 hours to our destination.

We had a lot of fun celebrating Christmas with the Sandvigs.  His Grandma is such a gracious hostess and we were happy to FINALLY introduce her to Chelsea.  We opened gifts, ate dinner and then played lots of competitive ping pong.  Since Christmas Day is always so hectic we decided to spend an extra day in Humboldt so we could spend some "quiet" time with Grandma Del. Ben's parents, Uncle Steve, Uncle Kent and Lili stayed as well.

We woke up on Tuesday morning and enjoyed a relaxing morning.  Once it was time for Chelsea's morning nap we hopped in the car and headed back to the city.  We made it all the way to Cabela's in Owatonna before Chelsea needed to get out of the car.  We walked her around the store and looked at the taxidermy animals and the fish tank.  That stop definitely had Ben and I craving a day on Lake Mina fishing!  Cabela's is the only stop we had to make on the way home.
